Bundles are the biggest single purchase most people make in a beauty supply, and the labels explaining the price differences are not always clear. All four Kelly Beauty stores carry human, remy and blend bundles with matching closures and frontals.

Remy is the word that matters

Remy hair has all cuticles running root to tip, which is why it stays smooth and tangle-free. Non-remy has mixed cuticle directions and is usually coated with silicone to compensate, which feels excellent until the coating wears off and the hair matts, typically at the nape. Virgin remy has had no chemical processing and takes color most predictably.

Textures

Straight, body wave, loose wave, deep wave, water wave and curly, plus kinky textures made to blend with natural hair. Body wave is the most adaptable, straightening or defining as you want. If you're leaving any of your own hair out, match the bundle texture to how you wear that hair rather than to its natural state.

How many

Length drives the count, because a bundle is sold by weight and the same weight covers less ground the longer the hair gets. Three suits most installs to mid-back, four from about 22 inches. Purchase the whole set in one go so the batch matches, and take the higher number if you are between two.

Care decides the cost per wear

Wash every one to two weeks with the scalp targeted rather than the hair scrubbed, dry the roots properly, keep a leave-in and light oil through the ends, and wrap at night under satin. Good bundles cared for that way survive multiple installs; neglected, they look tired within one.
