Body Wave Bundles: What to Expect

Body wave is the most bought texture on the bundle wall, and for good reason: it's the most adaptable of the wave patterns and the most forgiving to wear. All four Kelly Beauty stores carry it in human, remy and blend, alongside the closures and frontals to finish an install.

What the pattern looks like

A soft, wide S-shape running down the length, closer to a loose wave than a curl. It has more movement and volume than straight hair without reading as obviously curly. It also photographs well, which is part of why it dominates the wall.

Why it's the versatile choice

It can be straightened for a sleek look and revived back to the wave pattern by washing, and it holds a curl if you want more definition. Straight bundles cannot be given a texture, and tightly curled bundles are harder to straighten without heat damage. Body wave sits in the middle and does both reasonably well.

Keeping the pattern

Wash gently, working downward rather than piling the hair, and let it air dry as much as possible. A little leave-in through the lengths helps the wave clump rather than frizz. Sleeping in a loose braid under a satin bonnet preserves the pattern far better than leaving it loose. If it flattens over time, a light mist of water revives it.

Matching a closure or frontal

Buy the closure or frontal in the same body wave texture, the same color code, and ideally in the same purchase so the batch matches. A silky straight closure over body wave bundles is the most visible mismatch in an install and the hardest to blend afterward.
