A full lace wig is lace across the entire cap, with every hair individually knotted into it by hand. That construction is what lets you part it anywhere, wear it up, wear it down, and change your mind the next day. It is the most versatile unit made, the most expensive, and the most easily ruined.
On a wefted cap, hair is sewn in rows, so the hair only moves in the direction the rows allow. On full lace, each strand is knotted individually into the mesh, so hair grows out of the base in all directions the way it does from a scalp. That is why a full lace unit parts cleanly wherever you put a comb, and why it takes so long to make. The labor is the cost.
Expect to pay several times what a comparable lace front costs, for the same hair. Nothing about the hair itself is different; you are paying for thousands of hand-tied knots. It is worth it for someone who wears a unit daily and wants full freedom with it, and it is difficult to justify for occasional wear, where a frontal delivers most of the visible benefit for far less.
The base is mesh with no weft to give it structure, so it has very little strength of its own. Pulling a comb through carelessly rips knots out, and knots that come out do not go back. Brushing should always start at the ends. When you take it off, support the cap rather than peeling it. Full lace units shed more visibly than wefted ones over time because each lost knot is a lost strand, and this is normal rather than a defect, though it is accelerated by rough handling.
The knots where hair meets lace show as small dark dots against the scalp, and lightening them makes the parting look more natural. It is a common preparation, and it is also where units get destroyed, since bleach left too long weakens the knot and the hair falls out. If you have not done it before, have it done rather than experimenting on a unit at this price. The same caution applies to plucking the hairline: a few hairs at a time, and you cannot put them back.
Cool water, gentle downward washing, no wringing, and drying on a stand with the cap supported. Store it on a stand, never folded. Handled well, a full lace human hair unit outlasts everything else on the wall; handled roughly, it fails faster than a cheap one.
