Head Wraps, Turbans and Satin Scarves

A wrap does three jobs at once: it covers a style you haven't finished, protects hair from weather and friction, and works as an outfit piece. All four Kelly Beauty stores carry wraps, turbans, scarves and bonnets together.

Pre-tied turbans

A pre-tied turban takes the skill out of wrapping, going on like a hat and sitting correctly every time. That makes it the practical choice if you're new to wraps or getting out of the door quickly. Satin-lined versions protect the hair underneath; unlined cotton ones look good and pull moisture out of it.

Scarves and wrapping

A longer scarf gives more styling options and takes practice to tie so it stays put through a day. Satin and silk are the right materials against hair. Cotton and viscose wraps hold their shape better for elaborate ties but should have a satin scarf or bonnet underneath if worn for long.

Protecting a style

A wrap over freshly laid edges, tied for ten to fifteen minutes, sets the shape. A satin scarf at night cuts the friction that causes frizz and breakage. In winter, a satin-lined hat is the item that stops a wool beanie undoing a press between the car and the door.

As an outfit piece

Wraps in the clothing section sit alongside bandanas, caps and hats, so it's easy to pick one that works with what you're wearing rather than treating it purely as hair protection. Bandanas are cheap enough to own several and useful beyond the head.
