Why satin and not cotton

Cotton absorbs moisture from hair and creates friction as you move, which lifts the cuticle and causes frizz, tangles and breakage over time. Satin and silk let hair slide instead of catching, and don't pull moisture out of it. That's the entire mechanism, and it's why a bonnet outperforms most products sold for frizz.

Bonnet, scarf or pillowcase

A bonnet is the simplest, covers everything and stays on for most people. A scarf gives more control for wrapping a style, particularly a press or laid edges, but takes practice to tie so it stays. Coming from downtown or Midtown, Gratiot runs straight there; from the west side, 7 Mile or Davison to Conner is the quickest way over.
