Edge Brushes, Scarves and Laying Tools in Warren

The product gets the attention, but the tools decide how the finish looks. Our Warren store on Van Dyke in the Majestic Plaza stocks edge brushes, scarves, spray bottles and the laying gels used for wigs and frontals, and it's open until 9 PM Monday through Saturday.

Choosing an edge brush

Most edge brushes have bristles on one side and a comb or pointed tail on the other. Firm bristles move coarse hair and give the sharpest swoop; soft bristles are kinder to fragile edges but need more passes. The tail is for parting and for lifting individual hairs into place. A dual-sided brush covers both jobs, which is why it's the standard.

Satin scarves and wraps

A scarf tied over freshly laid edges for ten or fifteen minutes is what sets the shape. Satin is the right material because it doesn't absorb the product or rough up the hair the way cotton does. The same scarf earns its keep overnight, protecting the hairline from friction against a pillow, which is a slower but real cause of breakage.

Spray bottles and why they matter

A fine mist bottle for water, or water with a little leave-in conditioner, is the cheapest useful thing in this aisle. Damp hair takes less product and holds a shape better. A cheap bottle that sprays in a jet rather than a mist makes the hair too wet in one spot, so the nozzle is worth checking.

Laying gels for wigs are a different product

Gels and sprays sold for laying lace hold far harder than edge control meant for your own hairline, and they are formulated to grip lace against skin. They're the right choice for a frontal and the wrong choice for daily use on your own edges. They're shelved near the wigs rather than with the styling products.

Our Warren store

Our Warren store is at 27750 Van Dyke Ave in the Majestic Plaza shopping center, between 11 Mile and 12 Mile. It's open until 9 PM Monday through Saturday and 6:30 PM on Sunday, which makes it the usual evening stop for Warren, Center Line, Sterling Heights and the Oakland County suburbs off I-696. Van Dyke gets you there from the south, and the I-696 Van Dyke exit from the east or west.
