Removing, Cleaning and Reusing Strip Lashes

A good pair of strip lashes is worth many wears, and most people throw them away after two or three because of how they were removed and stored. Our Roseville store at Gratiot and 12 Mile stocks lashes, removers and cases, open until 8:45 PM most nights.

Removing without pulling out your own

Never peel a strip off dry. Soften the glue first with a little eye makeup remover or micellar water on a cotton bud, worked along the band, and give it a moment. Then lift from the outer corner, slowly and parallel to the eye rather than straight out. Your own lashes come out with the strip when the glue hasn't been softened, and they take weeks to regrow.

Cleaning the band

The old glue must come off or the next application sits crooked. Peel it away from the band with tweezers while it's still slightly soft, which is easiest right after removal. If it has hardened, a cotton bud with remover softens it. Then wipe the lash hairs gently with micellar water to take off mascara and eyeshadow, and let them dry naturally.

Storing them

Back in the original tray, pressed into the curve, so they keep their shape. Lashes tossed into a makeup bag flatten and splay, and a flattened band will not sit against the curve of the eye. The tray costs nothing and is the reason some pairs last twenty wears and others three.

When to stop reusing

When the band has lost its shape and won't curve, when hairs have thinned out unevenly, or when the lash no longer sits flush against your lash line. Synthetic lashes generally give fewer wears than mink-style ones. Hygiene matters too: if you've had an eye infection, throw them out rather than cleaning them.
