Human hair bundles and wigs, where remy quality is the difference between one install and three. Clippers and flat irons, where the motor, the plates and the availability of replacement parts decide whether the tool lasts years. A good wide-tooth comb, since a cheap one with a moulding seam along the teeth tears hair. Satin bonnets that actually stay on.

Where the cheaper option is fine

Rubber bands, sectioning clips, bobby pins and cotton pads, which are consumables that get lost rather than worn out. Spray bottles. Basic combs for sectioning rather than detangling. Shower caps and processing caps. Most nail polish, where price tracks brand more than performance.

Where cheap costs more

Blades and guards for clippers, which chip and then damage the cut. Lash glue and wig adhesive, where a poor one fails at the worst moment or irritates skin. Heat protectant, because the alternative is heat damage. Non-remy bundles for a long install, which matt and need replacing before a better set would have needed washing.

Timing rather than trading down

It's the closest Kelly Beauty for Roseville, Fraser, Clinton Township, Mount Clemens and anyone coming down Gratiot or I-94 from northern Macomb County. Monday through Saturday it's open until 8:45 PM.
