Removing a Lace Front Without Damage

More lace units are ruined at removal than at install, and more edges are lost there too. Both happen for the same reason: pulling before the adhesive has released. Our Roseville store at Gratiot and 12 Mile stocks removers, cleansers and replacement units, open until 8:45 PM most nights.

Never pull it off dry

Adhesive removers exist because glue does not let go on its own. Apply remover along the hairline, over the lace and underneath where you can reach, and give it time to work. Several minutes, not several seconds. If the lace resists, it needs more remover and more time, not more force.

Work from the edges inward

Start at the sides, where there's less tension, and lift slowly toward the center, applying more remover as you go. Keep the lace supported rather than letting it hang and tear under its own weight. This takes longer than the install did, and rushing it is what tears both the lace and the hairs at your temples.

Clean the adhesive off the same day

Residual glue hardens on the lace, discolors it, and stops the next install lying flat. Clean it while it's still soft, using remover and a soft brush along the lace band. This one step decides whether the unit survives for another install or not.

Look after the hairline afterward

The skin under adhesive has been covered for days. Wash it gently, and give it a break before the next install rather than reapplying immediately. If you see redness, bumps or irritation, that's a reaction to the adhesive and it's worth switching product or moving to a glueless cap.
