Jewelry and Accessories on Detroit's East Side

Most beauty supply stores treat jewelry as an afterthought near the register. Ours carry it properly, and three of the four sit along Gratiot on the east side, which means anyone from the 7 Mile area up into Roseville has a decent selection within ten minutes.

Which store, and where

The Detroit store is off Gratiot near 7 Mile, on Houston Whittier. Super Kelly Beauty is on Gratiot just north of the 8 Mile line in Eastpointe. The Roseville store is on Gratiot at 12 Mile. All three carry earrings in quantity along with necklaces, rings and body jewelry, so a trip to any of them covers the same ground.

What the sections cover

Studs and huggies for everyday wear, hoops across the size range, drops and statement pieces, and sets. Necklaces from plain chains for layering to statement pieces. Rings and body jewelry. Hair jewelry, cuffs and beads that cross over into the braiding aisle, which is useful if you're picking pieces to work into an install.

Buying jewelry with hair in mind

Earrings compete with hair for the same space, and it's worth choosing them together rather than separately. A statement earring reads against a sleek install or an updo and vanishes under a long, full unit. If you're buying hair and jewelry in the same trip, hold them against each other before deciding.

Metal and sensitive ears

If your ears react, look for surgical steel or titanium and check the post rather than the front, since the post is what sits in the piercing. Plated pieces wear through where they rub, which is normal rather than faulty, and a dry cloth wipe before storing slows it considerably.

Our Detroit store

Our Detroit store is at 15221 Houston Whittier St, just off Gratiot near 7 Mile on the east side, and it's the one that handles every online pickup order. It opens at 8:45 AM every day but Sunday, with the latest closing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:15 PM. Coming from downtown or Midtown, Gratiot runs straight there; from the west side, 7 Mile or Davison to Conner is the quickest way over.
