The four families

Studs sit flat and go with everything, which makes them the pair worth choosing carefully since they get worn most. Huggies are small hoops that sit close to the lobe, useful in a second or third piercing. Hoops range from everyday small through medium at the jaw to large statement sizes. Drops and statement pieces move, which is what makes them noticeable.

Weight, not just size

A large earring is not automatically heavy, and weight is what stretches a piercing over time. Lightweight resin, acrylic and hollow metal give the scale without the pull. If you wear big earrings daily, alternating with something small gives the lobe a rest.
