Why Lashes Lift, Irritate or Fall Off

Most lash problems have a specific cause and a specific fix, and buying more expensive lashes rarely solves any of them. Our Warren store on Van Dyke in the Majestic Plaza stocks lashes, adhesives and tools, open until 9 PM Monday through Saturday.

The outer corner keeps lifting

Almost always because the band wasn't trimmed, so the strip is longer than the eye and the excess pushes against the outer corner until it peels. Trim from the outer end until the strip matches your lash line. If it's trimmed and still lifting, the glue is either old or was applied while still wet, or there's oil on the skin from moisturizer or makeup remover.

They will not stick at all

Old glue is the first suspect, since lash adhesive thickens and stops working within a few months of opening. The second is not letting the glue go tacky before placing, which is the most common technique error. The third is oil, from skincare, primer or eye makeup remover, which stops adhesive gripping. Clean the lash line before applying.

Itching, redness or swelling

Stop wearing them and take them off. Latex in traditional adhesives is a common cause, and a latex-free glue often resolves it entirely. Old glue, an unclean band reused many times, or a genuine reaction to the lash fiber can all irritate. Persistent swelling or pain around the eye needs a doctor rather than a different product.

They look obvious

Usually the band sits too far from the lash line, leaving a visible gap. Get it as close as possible without touching the waterline, and cover any remaining gap with a thin line of liner. Otherwise the style may simply be too dense for your eye, and a wispier pair will look like your own lashes rather than like lashes.

Our Warren store

Our Warren store is at 27750 Van Dyke Ave in the Majestic Plaza shopping center, between 11 Mile and 12 Mile. It's open until 9 PM Monday through Saturday and 6:30 PM on Sunday, which makes it the usual evening stop for Warren, Center Line, Sterling Heights and the Oakland County suburbs off I-696. Van Dyke gets you there from the south, and the I-696 Van Dyke exit from the east or west.
