Half wigs

It goes on in seconds. It works when your own front hair is healthy enough to blend and matches the piece reasonably in texture.

Full cap wigs

A full cap covers everything, with a machine-made cap and no lace panel. It's the most durable construction on the wall, since there's no delicate lace to tear, and usually the most affordable. The trade is the hairline, which is a wig hairline rather than an imitation of a scalp, so it reads as a wig at close range.

Blending a half wig

The join is everything. Leave out enough of your own front hair to cover the edge of the piece, and match the texture: if you straighten your leave-out, a straight piece blends, and if you don't, a kinky-textured piece matches far better. A little edge control settles the front so the transition disappears.
